There is much talk going about assessment. While the latest trend is to give up LAS altogether, this doesn't undermine the importance of day-to-day assessment, evaluative or formative, that teachers use and will continue to use.
What has been your experience with assessment? What would you like to learn about/improve/try and see it work?
Please offer your experiences and thoughts by replying to this post.

I do agree that there were too many formal assessments. It had become teach a little, test alot in the classroom. Teachers are familiar with their students and know what they have mastered. I find I know just as well where my students are by daily contact.

I worry about assessing student knowledge after a session of inquiry-based learning. How can I assess a student's progress and knowledge when they may have developed unique and different understandings of the material? I still feel as though all students should have at least similar assessments to maintain the integrity of the course, but I don't know how that would happen when students may have all learned different things!
