Language has a great bearing on culture. As a child I was not allowed into a French speaking school because I did not know enough academic French (even though my home was French speaking). As a teacher in a second language many of my students arrive with little or no strength in their first language and are expected to acquire academics in a second language.
I recently heard that the new major economical boom countries are India and China. Those countries are seeking out American graduates.
My point being, each country thinks their educational systems are the best. What can we be doing to create a global connections? Perhaps uniformed academic standards or greater use of technology (not just video games) at a young age. You and I both know that is not a possibility.
